South District Condos, Barrie

South District Condominium is a 7-storey mid-rise building with commercial units at street level and housing on top. Brixen Developments retained JDB Associates to provide landscape architectural and arborist services for this condo development. Working around design constraints of neighboring land uses and existing vegetation, JDB completed the landscape design for the surface parking area and streetscape which are complete with patios and striking plant beds. By maximizing the building’s footprint the outdoor amenity space is located on the 7th floor rooftop and consists of a tanning area, outdoor kitchen space, dining seating, leisure seating, shade structure, and a lawn bowling court. This outdoor amenity space gives tenants a functional space to enjoy nice days and provides a beautiful view of Kempenfelt Bay. This project is a great model of the services JDB can offer to high density housing towers.
